Description

X-Ray Tetra Pristella Maxillaris 2cm

Overview: The X-Ray Tetra, known for its stunning translucent appearance and vibrant silver body, is a captivating addition to any aquarium. Its distinctive markings and peaceful nature make it a popular choice among hobbyists.

Origin: Native to South America, specifically the Amazon River basin and its tributaries, these tetras thrive in soft, acidic waters with plenty of vegetation.

Feeding: These omnivorous fish happily accept a varied diet, including high-quality flakes, frozen or live foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small insects. Their diet can be supplemented with vegetable matter.

Tank Mates: Their gentle disposition makes them excellent tank mates for other peaceful community fish such as other tetras, rasboras, gouramis, and small catfish. Avoid pairing them with aggressive or larger species that might intimidate them.

Aggression: X-Ray Tetras are incredibly peaceful and non-aggressive, making them an ideal addition to community tanks. They prefer swimming in schools of their own kind, feeling more secure and displaying their best colors in larger groups.

Experience Level: Perfect for aquarists of all experience levels, these tetras are hardy and adaptable, forgiving of minor fluctuations in water parameters.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72-82°F (22-28°C)
  • pH: 5.5-7.5
  • Hardness: Soft to slightly hard water (2-15 dGH)
  • Ammonia and nitrite levels should always be at zero, and regular water changes are essential for their health and well-being.
