Latin Name: Acipenser Stellatus

Maximum Size: 150cm

Preferred Water Conditions: Will acclimatise to a wide range of conditions. pH: 6.5-8.0

Temperature: Cold water-temperate between 4-20 deg C (39-59 deg F)

Care: Sturgeon are not suitable for an aquarium and should be kept in medium to large ponds. Typically they have a maximum size of 120cm, but in the past there have been larger found in the wild.

Sturgeon can have a life span of 65 years.

They need good water quality and much higher oxygen levels than most fish, therefore a good filtration system is essential.

There is a wide range of foods available specifically for sturgeon usually in the form of pellets, but they will also feed on small insects, insect larvae, small crustaceans found in the pond.
