Overview: The Bleeding Heart Tetra, with its striking red “bleeding heart” marking, is a captivating addition to any community aquarium. Its peaceful nature and vibrant appearance make it a favorite among aquarists.

Origin: Native to South America, particularly found in the waters of the Amazon River basin, these tetras thrive in densely vegetated, slow-moving streams.

Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, Bleeding Heart Tetras readily accept high-quality flake foods, pellets, and frozen/live foods like bloodworms and daphnia. A varied diet ensures optimal health and coloration.

Tank Mates: Known for their peaceful demeanor, Bleeding Heart Tetras make excellent community fish. They coexist harmoniously with other peaceful species such as other tetras, rasboras, dwarf cichlids, and peaceful bottom dwellers like Corydoras catfish.

Aggression: These tetras are non-aggressive and typically shy, preferring the safety of a school. They may display minor territorial behaviors during breeding.

Experience Level: Suitable for aquarists of various experience levels, including beginners. They are hardy and adaptable to a wide range of water conditions.

Water Parameters: Optimal conditions include a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5, a water temperature between 72°F to 80°F (22°C to 27°C), and slightly soft to moderately hard water.
